FIN applauds ex-surgeon general’s support of e-cigs
This week, former U.S. surgeon general Dr. Richard Carmona gave the growing electronic cigarette industry a powerful endorsement.
Dr. Carmona, the senior public health official under President George W. Bush from 2002 to 2006, is joining the board of directors of a company that – like FIN – sells electronic cigarettes.
“We still have one out of five people in America smoking … there’s a lot more work to do,” Dr. Carmona told the Associated Press. “To dismiss (e-cigarettes) and not even consider it … would be a disservice to the public who are looking for alternatives.”
Here at FIN, we applaud Dr. Carmona’s move and hope it helps smokers and the anti-tobacco crowd to embrace electronic cigarettes and realize that inhaling an e-cig is not smoking in the traditional sense. There’s no ash, no smell and no second-hand smoke to worry about.
In other words, it’s time to Lighten Up.
